In late September, I can already smell the fragrance of orange osmanthus (金木犀) on the way to work. Autumn is already here in Kyoto.
According to ayurveda, autumn is one of the best seasons to detoxify and cleanse the body. on September 25th, I taught a workshop about ayurveda - dinacharya at Tamisa Yoga Studio in Kyoto.
Ayurveda is the traditional Indian healing system, and dinacharya is a daily ritual of self care. I shared with everyone how to incorporate this ancient wisdom into our everyday life so we can maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
(I introduced anyurvedic cleansing techniques like abhyanga, neti pot, nasya, etc)
The students were all eager to learn. Some told me a few days later that they got really interested in ayurveda and are starting to read books about it. Some others told me that they have been starting to use these cleansing techniques. I hope that everyone has learned something new from this workshop.
"We first make our habits, then our habits make us." May we all put the efforts on creating habits that serve us to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
(Group photo at the end of the workshop, thanks the beautiful Noriko for the wonderful interpretation)
