A Learning Trip to Singapore

I packed my luggage to Singapore for a yin yoga teacher training for 6 days. During my stay, day time is all occupied by training. Night time is the only chance to see the city. I gotta make the most out of it.

Our training is located near the Orchard Road MRT station, where the magnificent malls and speciality shops stand with pride. Singapore is a mouthwatering gourmet country. The food here is a mix of Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian spices. In recent years, healthy vegetarian restaurants are also on the rise.

Night View in Singapore

Singapore is like a modern garden where about 6 million people call home. But surprisingly, I didn’t even get one single mosquito bite during the whole week. I wonder if the government is actively controlling the spreading of mosquito-borne diseases. Just little things like this really make my stay here a very pleasant experience.

The night view in Singapore is one thing not to be missed. My friend and I sneaked up to the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands for this gorgeous view. You may order a cocktail to spice up your night. On the way back, we stopped by Gardens by the Bay to marvel its light-up show — The Garden Rhapsody. The country is truly a masterpiece of urban planning.

National Day in Singapore

Luckily, the National Day of Singapore falls on one of the days of my stay. My local friend Clifton and I went to see the fireworks. It was meaningful to me to celebrate the country’s 51st birthday with thousands of multicultural locals.

We waited for two hours just for 5 min of fireworks. Nonetheless, it was nice to come out and see the multicultural locals dress up in white and red (their national colors) chilling, having a picnic before the show.

My Yoga Training

More than anything, this trip is really a great learning experience for me. As a yoga teacher, I have to constantly remind myself how deep the knowledge is and how little I know. To see the high quality of my fellow yoga teachers in Singapore is promising. And our teacher Jo is someone who dedicates her time and energy to seek the knowledge and share it with many around the world. I’m inspired by her to keep learning, and sharing what I learned with my community.
